Delhi Capitals has suffered its second consecutive defeat in IPL 2024. Earlier, Punjab Kings had defeated Delhi by four wickets. Rajasthan has improved its net run rate with its second consecutive win.

The team is second in the points table with four points and a net runrate of 0.800. Whereas, Delhi Capitals is at eighth position. Delhi and Mumbai are two teams which have not got any win in this tournament so far.

 

In the match played between Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals on Thursday, Sanju Samson’s team defeated the guests by 12 runs. Rajasthan scored 185 runs losing five wickets in 20 overs. In response, Delhi could score only 173 runs after losing five wickets in 20 overs. Delhi Capitals has suffered its second consecutive defeat in IPL 2024. Earlier, Punjab Kings had defeated Delhi by four wickets.

Burger took two wickets in three balls:

Delhi had a good start in this match. There was a 30-run partnership for the first wicket between David Warner and Mitchell Marsh which was broken by Burger in the fourth over. Marsh managed to score 23 runs in 12 balls with the help of five fours. After this, the team got the second blow in the form of Ricky Bhui, who was victimized by Burger on the fourth ball of his fourth over. He got two successes in three balls. Bhui returned to the pavilion without opening the account.

Delhi had lost two wickets on the score of 30 runs. After this there was a good partnership between David Warner and Rishabh Pant. Both made a partnership of 67 runs for the third wicket. Warner scored 49 runs in 34 balls with the help of five fours and three sixes. At the same time, captain Pant managed to score 28 runs. Chahal made him his victim. After this, Delhi got the fifth blow in the form of Abhishek Porel on the score of 122 runs. Chahal wreaked havoc with his deadly bowling and returned him on the third ball of the 16th over. He could score only nine runs.

Stubbs and Akshar Patel could not lead the team to victory:

After this, Tristan Stubbs and Akshar Patel tried to make the team win, but they failed. There was an unbeaten partnership of 51 runs between the two. Stubbs scored 44 runs at a strike rate of 191.30. During this, he hit two fours and three sixes with his bat. Whereas, Akshar Patel scored 15 runs. Nandre Berger and Yuzvendra Chahal took two wickets each for Rajasthan. At the same time, Avesh Khan got a success. This bowler spent only four runs in the last over. Delhi needed 16 runs to win in the 20th over, but Avesh Khan bowled lethally and stopped Stubbs and Akshar from scoring runs.

Ryan Parag and Hetmyer’s  bat destroy  Delhi:

Shimron Hetmyer came in to bat at number seven. He made an unbeaten partnership of 43 runs with Riyan Parag. Hetmyer remained unbeaten after scoring 14 runs in this match. At the same time, due to the stormy innings of Riyan Parag, Rajasthan’s score crossed 180. He faced 45 balls and scored 84 runs with the help of seven fours and six sixes. In the last over, he targeted Shimron Hetmyer and scored 25 runs. Parag also remained unbeaten in this match. For Delhi, Khalil Ahmed, Mukesh Kumar, Enrich Norkhia, Akshar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav took one wicket each.
